What is Retiroll?
Retiroll is a free, web-based random picker with 9 physics-based engines — spin wheel, lottery blower, dice roller, Plinko, slot machine, dartboard, card draw, bottle spinner, and tournament bracket. Great for classrooms, events, team standups, or just settling who picks dinner.
Is it really free?
Yep — 100% free. Every engine, every feature, no paywalls, no "premium tier" upsells. Just open it and go.
Do I need an account?
Nope. No sign-ups, no emails. Jump straight into the Free Sandbox or Host Studio, add your names, and spin. Everything saves right in your browser. 💡 Did you know? Your saved game sets stick around even after you close the tab — they live in your browser’s local storage, so they’ll be right there next time you open Retiroll on the same device.
How many names can I add?
Anywhere from 2 to 10,000+. The rendering engine scales dynamically, so animations stay smooth whether you’re picking from a class of 15 or a raffle of 5,000.
Is the picking actually fair?
Yes. We use cryptographic-grade randomness combined with real physics simulation (angular momentum, friction, bounce). Equal-weight items get exactly equal odds — no rigging, ever.
How does weighted probability work?
You assign a weight to each entry. If Item A is weighted 2 and Item B is weighted 1, A gets double the sector space (or double the lottery balls), giving it an exact 2:1 chance. The math is transparent.
What’s Elimination Mode?
Once someone is picked, they’re removed from the pool. Everyone gets a turn — no repeats.
Can the host peek at who’ll win?
No. Physics runs live in your browser — the result is determined in real time by the simulation trajectory. No one knows the outcome until it lands. Suspense guaranteed.
Is it safe for kids? COPPA?
Absolutely. Retiroll is COPPA-compliant — we collect zero student data. No emails, no names on our servers. Any roster you type or import stays entirely in your browser’s memory. 💡 Heads up for teachers: Since nothing leaves your device, there’s nothing for your district IT team to worry about either.
How do I import my class roster?
In Host Studio, hit "Import CSV / Spreadsheet". Upload a .csv from Google Sheets or Excel, or just copy-paste your name column directly into the roster area. Done in seconds.
Does it work on Smartboards?
Yes — touch-optimized for interactive whiteboards and Promethean boards. Tap to spin, confetti fills the screen, and the high-contrast palettes are visible from the back of any classroom.
How do teachers use it for review games?
Some popular setups: Tournament Bracket for team trivia, Card Draw for flashcard drills, and the Reward Wheel for PBIS celebrations.
Mobile and tablet support?
Fully responsive — works on iPhones, iPads, Android, Chromebooks, Mac, and Windows. Touch gestures are built in.
Can I use it offline?
Yes! Retiroll is a Progressive Web App (PWA). Once loaded, everything — physics, audio, rendering — runs locally on your device. No internet needed after the first load. 💡 Good to know: This makes it perfect for venues with unreliable Wi-Fi, like school gyms or outdoor events.
Do the sound effects eat up bandwidth?
Not at all. Every click, tick, and fanfare is generated in real time using the browser’s Web Audio API — no audio files are downloaded or streamed.
Where’s my data stored?
In your browser’s local storage (HTML5). Close the tab, come back later on the same browser, and your game sets will be right where you left them.
What’s the 6-digit Join PIN?
When you host a live session, Retiroll generates a temporary PIN (e.g., 842-195). Participants visit retiroll.online/join, enter the PIN on their phones, and see the game live on their screens.
Can I adjust the spin duration?
Yes — there’s a Suspense Duration slider in both Host Studio and Free Sandbox. Set it from a quick 2-second snap to a dramatic 10-second nail-biter.
Can I export or share my game sets?
Sure. Export as JSON or CSV from Host Studio, then email it to a colleague. They import it in one click — instant setup.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
