Why choosing a meal causes disproportionate evening friction
After a long day of work, decision fatigue hits hard at dinner. Evaluating dozens of restaurants and recipes at once quickly becomes exhausting.
Everyone knows the circular dinner standoff when choosing where to eat. Someone suggests Thai, but someone else vetos it. Spinning the wheel cuts through the stalemate with an instant choice you can accept or re-spin.
Replace generic cuisines with specific neighborhood restaurants
While the default preset features 8 broad cuisine styles, you can customize the list with your household’s actual favorite spots. Click "Customize in Free Sandbox" to swap generic labels for real names: Joe's Pizza, Tokyo Ramen Bar, Green Bowl Salads, etc.
You can also balance your budget. Give home-cooked meals higher slice weights and keep pricey takeout spots on smaller slices.
Each cuisine occupies exactly one-eighth (45 degrees) of the wheel circumference.
| Segment / Option | Theoretical Odds | Practical Context |
|---|---|---|
| Any specific cuisine (e.g. Pizza) | 12.5% | Exact 1-in-8 probability per spin. |
| Asian cuisines combined (Sushi, Thai, Ramen) | 37.5% | Three contiguous or distributed sectors totaling 135 degrees. |
| Western comfort foods (Pizza, Burgers, Pasta) | 37.5% | Three sectors totaling 135 degrees of probability. |
Both people agree beforehand that whatever the pointer selects is the final dinner choice.
Each person eliminates one cuisine they refuse to eat tonight before spinning the remaining six.
Switch to Tournament mode to pit 8 neighborhood restaurants head-to-head in a bracket.
Order from the winning restaurant without looking at reviews first to discover new menu items.
